Smart visa scheme for international experts
The SMART Visa is a new type of visa designed to attract highly skilled manpower and investors to help accelerate the development of the country’s targeted industries. SMART Visa is offered to foreign experts, executives, entrepreneurs and investors who wish to enter into the Kingdom of Thailand to work or to invest in the following “13 S-Curve industries” or the country’s targeted industries. 17% flat personal income tax rate for international experts
To attract foreign investors, especially in high technology and targeted industries and those working in Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) i.e. the Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong Provinces, the government proposes to offer smart visas to qualifying foreign professionals. Those eligible for a smart visa would be entitled to special benefits such as permission to stay in Thailand for 2-4 years at a time with their spouse and children, permission to work without a work permit and once a year reporting to immigration.
